The Alliance for Middle America Seismology, ALMAS, is an informal alliance of organizations with plans for long-term seismological activities in Middle America. The region extends from Mexico, through Central America, Colombia, and Venezuela – and also includes island countries and territories in and around the Caribbean Sea.
Institutions doing seismological work in Middle America do not necessarily need to have a permanent physical presence in the region in order to participate in ALMAS. ALMAS welcomes multiple institutions from individual countries, and recognizes new allied institutions by consent of participants at any ALMAS meeting.
